Update on the Cyber Incident

February 28, 2025

Following the cyber incident the City experienced earlier this week, we took swift action to protect our systems and minimize impacts. Since then, we have worked with cyber security experts and relevant authorities to investigate the incident’s extent and impacts.

We can confirm that no critical systems, such as water, wastewater treatment, or emergency response, have been impacted. With our cyber security experts, we have been methodically reviewing our systems and networks as we restore services.

Email access remains unavailable for sending or receiving; however, telephone service (including the City’s mainline) has been restored. We expect some potential intermittent disruptions to the telephone system. We will keep the emergency report a problem phone number (778-256-0076) active while the potential disruptions remain. We hope to have limited email service resume early next week.

As the investigation and response to the incident is ongoing, we must be sensitive to what information is shared. Once services have been restored, we will conduct a comprehensive analysis to determine the cause of the incident, identify impacts, and implement measures to strengthen the system to prevent future occurrences.
