Background
On the morning of Tuesday, February 25, 2025, the City of Fort St. John experienced a cyber incident. As soon as the incident was discovered, we took swift action to protect our systems and minimize impacts. Since then, we have worked with cyber security experts and relevant authorities to investigate the incident’s extent and impact.
We can confirm that no critical systems, such as water, wastewater treatment, or emergency response, have been impacted. With our cyber security experts, we have been methodically reviewing our systems and networks as we restore services.
As the investigation and response to the incident is ongoing, we must be sensitive to what information is shared. Once services have been restored, we will conduct a comprehensive analysis to determine the cause of the incident, identify impacts, and implement measures to strengthen the system to prevent future occurrences.
