Cemeteries Master Plan
The City of Fort St. John currently owns and operates two municipal cemeteries. The City has reached a juncture in the development and management of its cemeteries. There is significant population growth and cultural diversity is increasing. The cemeteries are being operated in accordance with legislation and best practices, but some of the cemetery management practices are no longer sufficient for the size of the operation. The City of Fort St. John initiated a process to prepare a 20-year Cemeteries Master Plan to guide cemetery growth, improvements, and operations.
The project involved a needs assessment, preparation of concept plans, and an organization and business plan. Community and stakeholder input was solicited, but response rates were low. The consultants worked closely with City staff on all aspects of the Master Plan.
