Changes and Additions:

  • Featherfit #13215 in August will start on Monday August 12 
  • July 20 International Chess Day activities at Heritage Park have been moved indoors to Pomeroy Sport Centre Meeting Room due to Special Air Quality Statement from 11am-2pm.
  • The Visitor Centre will close at 7 pm instead of 8 pm Monday to Friday in July-August
  • Correction: Youth Flag Football #13225 is for participants between the ages of 8 and 13 years.
  • All Oval Programming has been cancelled until October 1.

BC Day Crossword Scavenger Hunt

Join in the fun of the BC Day Scavenger Crossword! Two clues will be released every Monday in August. Facebook clues will lead you to a local spot where you will find the actual crossword clues that fill in the puzzle. Individuals who complete their crossword will be entered to win a prize! Pickup a hard-copy crossword sheet from the Visitor Information Centre or download here: Crossword Puzzle [PDF - 513 KB]. Completed crosswords can be submitted at the Visitor Centre or by e-mailing a picture to recreation@fortstjohn.ca.Check back on Monday at 8:00am for your FIRST set of clues!

Golf Course Bingo

From August 5-31 play 9 holes at Fort St. John Links, Lone Wolf Golf Club, Lakepoint Golf and Country Club, and Farmington Fairways Golf and collect stamps on your bingo card for a chance to win a prize! Pick-up a card/the rules at the Fort St. John Visitor Centre, at a participating golf course, or print one [PDF - 231 KB]. Hand in your completed bingo card with at least one stamp from each course at the Fort St. John Visitor Information Centre or email visitorinfo@fortstjohn.ca before September 6 to be entered in a draw for a round of golf from each golf course and prizes! Outdoor Summer Walking Challenge

Hit your favourite trail, park, or outdoor spot and start walking! Use the tracking sheet to record your progress over nine weeks. Prizes will be awarded for the most time spent walking, and the most distance logged. Track your walks honestly, using tools like Fitbits for reference, but don't count steps. Tracking sheets are available from June 28 at fortstjohn.ca or the Visitor Centre. Submit completed sheets by the end of August by emailing them to recreation@fortstjohn.ca or dropping them off at the Visitor Information Centre.

The City of Fort St. John Recreation & Leisure Guide is a quarterly publication highlighting all programs, events, courses, and activities the Community Services Department puts on. The guide also features information on parks, facility bookings, bylaws, and contains a community directory for organizations that offer specific recreation and leisure programs.

The Recreation & Leisure Guide is only available online; however, hard copies are available for viewing at the North Peace Leisure Pool and Fort St. John Visitor Centre (inside the Pomeroy Sport Centre).
