Santa Claus Parade

The City of Fort St. John Santa Claus Parade & Tree Light Up is happening on December 7!

Join us for a delightful evening packed with festive fun! Enjoy a lively parade, warm up with hot chocolate and hot dogs, marvel at the Christmas Tree Light Up, and meet Mr. and Mrs. Claus! And the best part? It’s all absolutely free!

Parade Details 

The festivities begin at 5 PM! Gather along 100 Street to watch Santa’s parade glide south from 108 Ave to Centennial Park. Once there, keep the holiday cheer going with an evening full of seasonal delights.

Santa Parade & Tree Light Up Events and Activities:

Friday December 6:
4-7pm - CDN Controls FREE Skate at the Pomeroy Sport Centre Oval
Saturday December 7, 2024:
4pm: Parade marshalling - North of 110 Ave on 98 Street
5pm: Parade begins and travels south on 100 Street from 108 Ave. 
6 - 6:15pm: Opening remarks at Centennial Park Stage (time may vary)
6:30pm in Centenial Park and Festival Plaza:

Tree Light up Ceremony (countdown), complementary hot dogs served by Sunrise Rotary Club at Centennial Park, followed by visits with Santa and Mrs. Claus and free hot chocolate provided by Access Manufacturing, and music at the Festival Plaza.

Please note the following information to learn more about road closures, parking, and tips to enjoy the parade safely!

 

Road Closures:

  •  At 3pm 94 and 95 Ave between 100 Street and 102 Street will be closed and reserved as an unloading zone for parade floats
  • At 4pm 100 Street will be CLOSED to vehicles from 93 Ave to the south side of 100 Ave
  • At 4pm marshaling for the parade starts north of 108 Ave at 98 Street (local traffic and parade floats ONLY)
  • At 4:50pm 100 Street (including cross Avenues) between 108 Ave and the North side of 100 Ave will be barricaded until the parade is over to ensure cars do not pass through the route


Parallel Parking along the route:
100 Street (between 101 Ave and 107 Ave) is designated for accessible parking for people with mobility challenges, seniors, or children with sensitivities to sensory stimulation

 Tips for a successful parade:

  • Leave home early and give yourself ample time to find a parking and viewing spot
  • Parking is available at the Recreation Campus and walk to the Parade Route/Centennial Park
  • Be patient and polite to event workers
  • Drive slow, obey ALL signs and direction from traffic control staff
  • Dress for the weather – we are a snow or shine event!
  • Supervise your children closely - everyone must stay on the sidewalk during the parade
  • Stay informed! Follow our Facebook and website for up to date event info.

 Where’s the best spot to stand and watch?

The section of 100 Street between 96 Avenue up to the south side of 100 Street will be CLOSED to vehicle traffic. This is an excellent section to watch the parade from.
