8:30-10:30am | Pancake Breakfast at the Fire Hall

The Fire Department is welcoming everyone back to their location at the Fire Hall to enjoy a delicious pancake breakfast. This breakfast is by donation and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Check out the Pancake Breakfast Flyer [PDF - 207 KB] for suggested park & walk locations.

10am | Pre-parade Entertainment

THE GROOVE is a new dance program in Fort St. John based out of Evangel Downtown. Dancers are ages 9+ and their goal is to share hope and joy to everyone around them through their performance. They will perform a few dances on 100 Street from 93-100 Ave between 10-10:45am while spectators wait for the parade to begin.

11am | Parade

Check-out the Fort St. John Canada Day Parade with the many businesses and organizations that are showing off their wonderfully decorated floats.

Remember to follow the directions of posted signs, traffic control, and staff. The Parade starts at 11am travelling down 98 Street, then moves over to 100 Street using 102 Avenue.

11am – 4pm | Centennial Park Activities

FSJ Classic Cruisers Car Show and Shine - on 100 Street from 11am-4pm

Sensory/Parents tent

Side A: This space is for parents who need a quick reprieve from the sun to feed and change their babies. We will have a small sitting area, changing area, and wipes onsite. No diapers, or baby food provided. Staff and Volunteers will be on-site ensuring the area is clean, and comfy on one side of our parent’s tent. This space will be shared with the Sensory Tent.

Side B: In an effort to provide a space for neurodivergent people, one side of the Parent’s Tent will have a quiet space for anyone who needs a short reprieve from the busyness that comes with large events. There will be sensory toys, a child’s black out tent, sound reducing ear muffs, some foam blocks, weighted lap pads and various other materials to help support anyone who may become dysregulated an opportunity to regulate and rejoin in the festivities. Parents/Guardians and Support Workers are to remain with anyone who is dysregulated. A volunteer will be onsite to ensure products are sanitized and shared after each use.

Canada Day Scavenger Hunt & Free Admission at the Museum

  • In partnership with the City of Fort St John, the museum is pleased to offer scavenger hunts and free admission from 10am - 4pm on Canada Day.
  • Try their special Canada Day scavenger hunt around our historic buildings. Find historic artefacts and solve the hidden message. Anyone who completes a scavenger hunt can win a prize!
  • Check out the travelling exhibition, BC’s Marvellous Mushrooms, from the Royal BC Museum. Learn more about BC mushrooms and their versatility through a cross-section of different species-some familiar, some bizarre, some delicious, and some deadly. Featuring interpretive graphic panels, 3D-Printed mushroom models and foraging equipment, the exhibition shares fascinating facts about mushrooms and their many uses. BC’s Marvellous Mushrooms is funded in part by the Government of Canada. 

FREE Community Planned Activities

Canada Day Celebrations & mini parade at Peace Villa
12-7pm • Hospital Grounds
Join Peace Villa residents, staff, family and friends and celebrate Canada Day with them this year! Mini parade will begin after the Main Parade on 100th around 12pm or shortly there after. The staff will have food, decorations and activities after the parade for residents and their friends and families.

Community water balloon fight & prizes
5pm start • Mathews Park
The family and friends at Wellness Truth and Families Foundation is hosting their first ever community balloon water fight at one of Fort St John’s favourite spots in Mathews Park. Join them as they plan the biggest water balloon fight (hopefully) that Fort St John has ever seen. There will even be some prizes and a change to chat to the team about future water balloon fights!

Free goodie bags and face painting
12-6pm • 9916 101 Ave
Visit Peaceful Pages during their adjusted Canada Day hours to pick up a treat bag, get your face painted, and browse their store. The friendly and warm staff will be onsite to celebrate their Canada Day with you.

Join us this Canada Day from 4pm – 9pm for fun with the Amazing Escapes team. We have 4 unique escape rooms and 2 VR Room for teams and families to enjoy for FREE! Our team is excited to celebrate with Fort St John this upcoming Canada Day and will even have some light snacks and refreshments in the lobby while you’re waiting. The clever team will be onsite to celebrate Canada’s Birthday with you and as always, encourage you to book online in advance to avoid disappointment. Our favourite bowling alley in town is going to open up for you and yours to offer 1 free game this Canada Day. Each participant will be entitled to 1 free game and free shoe rentals. Strike out this Canada Day with our friends at Fort Bowling Lanes!

Free karaoke in the park
6-9pm Greenspace at 100 Ave at 96 St
Bring your lawn chair, blankets, and singing voice and join the North Peace Fil-Can Society to belt out some of your favourite tunes this Canada Day. Community Karaoke will start at 6pm and go until 9pm or there are no more singers left to perform, everyone is welcome for this fun and exciting event!

Seniors Canada Day BBQ & Activities
4pm start • The gazebo at Apartment #3 at North Peace Seniors Housing Society
This one is for our seniors! Join FSJ and Area Senior Care foundation for their Canada Day BBQ and celebration. Our friends are back with activities and a free bbq to make our seniors feel special and have a place to celebrate. Space is limited, please reach out to Roxanne if you’d like to participate rozannechmelyk1962@gmail.com. Access the event from 110 Avenue side of the building.
