Let's Talk Parking Public Survey

July 17, 2024

Fort St. John, BC – The City of Fort St. John has announced the launch of a comprehensive public survey aimed at gathering residents' input on downtown and residential parking. This initiative is part of the City’s Let’s Talk Parking Strategy, which started earlier this spring with a parking survey targeted to local businesses.

The City recognizes the importance of updating its policies to meet the evolving needs of both residents and businesses. All survey responses will be confidential, and the collected data will be used to inform the drafting of new parking policies, an updated Traffic Bylaw, plus, future updates to the Zoning Bylaw.

The public survey covers a range of topics, including:

  • Availability and adequacy of residential and downtown parking
  • Quantities of off-road and on-road vehicles in the community
  • Demand for electric vehicle infrastructure

Survey Start Date: July 17, 2024
End Date: August 18, 2024

How to Participate: The survey will be available online on the City of Fort St. John’s Let’s Talk webpage and in paper format at City Hall, Beaton Building, and the Pomeroy Sport Centre.

Mayor Hansen emphasized the importance of community involvement in this process, stating, “We want to hear from our residents and business owners about their experiences and concerns with parking in Fort St. John. Your feedback is crucial in helping Council shape policies that are fair, effective, and reflective of our community’s needs.”

How to Stay Informed: Residents are encouraged to visit the City’s Let’s Talk website for updates about the Parking Strategy and background information about the project.

Your input matters. Help us shape the future of parking in Fort St. John!
