Repairs to North Peace Arena required

During exterior upgrading work that is currently occurring on the North Peace Arena, it was discovered that structural repairs are required to the arena roof.

The building is currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the reduced demand for ice, and plans are being created so that the necessary repairs are completed before the 2021 - 2022 ice season. Through the use of an external engineering firm, detailed analysis and inspections are underway following an initial inspection. A repair and remediation plan will be presented to Council in the near future.

“The health and safety of our users, residents and employees is paramount. We are thankful that the issue was noticed while the exterior upgrades were in process and that due to the pandemic, this does not create additional challenges for our user groups,” stated Milo MacDonald, Chief Administrative Officer.

Current work on the exterior of the building has been halted while a repair and remediation plan are developed.
