Swimming lessons return to the North Peace Leisure Pool
October 30, 2020
As we continue to move through the City of Fort St. John Recreation and Leisure Services Recovery Plan, the North Peace Leisure Pool is beginning the phased return of swimming lessons with registration opening November 2. While all levels will be offered, in both group and private formats, their availability will be extremely limited. We encourage all those wishing to register to do so online or by telephone; however, in-person registration will be available.
We understand that Swimming Lessons are essential life skills and vital to our community needs. All lessons will comply with the City of Fort St. John COVID-19 Safety Plan and guidance from provincial health officials and organizations. Lessons will resume on November 16, with several pandemic-related modifications:
- Lessons will occur once per week
- Starfish, Duck, Sea Turtle, Sea Otter and Swim Kids 1 will require parent participation
- Both the number of classes and class sizes have been reduced
- Limited contact between instructors and participants
- Increased disinfection and sanitization protocols will occur
“We are excited for the return of swimming lessons and appreciate the understanding of the community while we continue to ensure the safety of our staff and citizens. This first phase of the reintroduction of swimming lessons will ensure we have any difficulties addressed before expanding our classes after the holiday break,” said Nicholas Mansfield, Aquatic Manager for the City of Fort St. John.
Register, beginning November 2, at www.fortstjohn.ca/activenet.
