100 Street Corridor Project Road Closures to start July 2

June 30, 2020

Work on the first phase of the 100 Street Corridor project began this spring, and beginning July 2 will lead to the closure of 100 Street at 96 Avenue.

In addition to the intersection upgrades at 100 Street and 96 Avenue, Phase 1 includes upgrading various alleys in the downtown core to support future phases of the 100 Street Corridor project.

The underground infrastructure on 100 Street is ageing and needs to be upgraded, and with the necessary construction required, the City conducted a significant public engagement process in 2019 to hear from the community how to improve the aboveground public spaces. 100 Street will continue to operate as a major transportation corridor within the city – functional for people and cars – and, at the same time, it will become more attractive and enjoyable to support a strong and vibrant downtown.

Access to local businesses near 100 Street and 96 Avenue will be maintained throughout construction, and a detour route will be in place using 102 Street between 95 Avenue and 97 Avenue. As always, obey all traffic control people and signage, and slow down near crews working.
