Santa Parade and Light-ups occurring this Saturday
December 5, 2019
The City of Fort St. John is pleased to be hosting the Santa Claus Parade, 2020 BC Winter Games Torch Light-up, and Christmas tree Light-up in Centennial Park on Saturday, December 7, 2019. Roads will be shut down from approximately 4 – 6:30 pm on 100 Street between 93 Avenue and 100 Avenue and no public vehicle access will be permitted to increase safety for parade spectators and pedestrians.
In order to perform this road closure, no parking signs will be placed on the sidewalks of 100 Street 48 hours prior to the event. On the day of the parade, the signs will be moved onto the road, to ensure that if vehicle traffic cannot parallel park. In addition to this, a series of detour signage will be placed out on 102 Street and 98 Street to deter traffic from getting close to 100 Street. Those who wish to view the Parade from their vehicles are encouraged to park on 100 Street north of 100 Avenue. When leaving the parade area, please note the high traffic areas at 100 Street and 96 Avenue and plan an alternate route to avoid heavy congestion.
Please join the festivities in Centennial Park after the parade for the Christmas tree light-up, BC Winter Games Torch light-up, a bonfire, free hot dogs sponsored by Save On Foods, free hot drinks supplied by the McCafe Trailer, and of course a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus!
The City of Fort St. John apologizes in advance for any inconvenience. Questions regarding the Parade Road Closure are asked to please contact Kylah Bryde, Recreation Manager at 250-794-3271 or recreation@fortstjohn.ca.
