City of Fort St. John excited with nursing program announcement

Today, Melanie Mark, Minister of Advanced Education, Skills and Training on behalf of the Provincial Government announced the first nursing degree program in the Northeast. The program with a capacity up 32 students begins in 2020.

The City of Fort St. John in partnership with Northern Health, Northern Lights College, the University of Northern British Columbia, and the Peace River Regional District submitted a feasibility report in 2018 to the Provincial Government for consideration.

“Hearing the news of a nursing school in Fort St John is very welcomed by our community and Council. Nurses are an integral part of a healthcare team; Council has worked hard advocating for this for several years and we are excited for this school to open,” stated Mayor Lori Ackerman.
