Internal City Staff Promoted to Fill Vacancies

Fort St. John, BC – The City of Fort St. John is proud of the solid succession planning and an excellent internal development program that allowed a number of senior management vacancies to be filled by internal employees.
Moira Green was appointed to General Manager of Community Services, filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Wally Ferris. Bringing over 20 years of private sector experience managing, Green has worked as the Director of Strategic Services for the past 4 years.
With 23 years of service for the City of Fort St. John in the role of Planner and Project Coordinator, Jennifer Decker takes the role of Manager of Economic Development.
Ramesh Ummat moves into the Director of Planning and Engineering and brings over 15 years of municipal experience including holding the position of Director of Public Works and Utilities for the past year.
After almost 29 years Jim Rogers, Director of Protective Services, has announced his retirement. Darrell Blades has been appointed Director of Public Safety and will additionally continue to serve in his current role of Deputy Fire Chief. Blades, who has been with the City since 2015, brings over 20 years of experience in emergency management and fire services.
“The ability to fill the various vacancies internally is a testament to the talented individuals we employ, strong internal training and development program, and excellent succession planning,” said Mayor Lori Ackerman.
“I am excited for the fresh ideas and unique insight these individuals bring to the table. Additionally, I would like to thank Jim for everything that he has done for the City of Fort St. John and wish him the best in whatever the future brings,” said Dianne Hunter, City Manager. “Congratulations on a great career Jim.”
