Boots to Blades

What to get your little one comfortable on the ice? At Boots to Blades, toddlers and children start their first two lessons in boots and then switch to skates for the remaining lessons. The instructor-led program features on-ice games, activities, and interaction with toys to help kids develop the motor skills needed for ice skating success.

Boots to Blades is recommended for children ages 3-5, but older two-year-olds can participate if parents feel the child is ready for skates. To enroll two-year-olds, please call the recreation team for approval at 250-785-4592. Participants must have their own skates and helmets, which are mandatory for both children and parents. Snow pants, gloves, and warm layer are recommended. Each child must be accompanied by one parent or guardian. Clean footwear is required, although adults/guardians may wear skates if they prefer. Lessons will start on time, so please arrive early to gear up and be ready. Spectators are not allowed on the ice during lessons.
