Freedom of Information
British Columbia's Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (the Act) regulates the protection and privacy of your personal information. The Act also provides a right to access records that are controlled by the City of Fort St. John.
How to request information from the City of Fort St. John:
Some records are available without the need to submit a formal request.
Start by making an informal request to the department you think will have the information you need.
If you find that the records you are seeking are not readily available, you may submit a formal request using your choice of the following:
- Fill out the Request for Access to Records Web-based Form,
- complete and submit the PDF version [PDF - 333 KB] of the request form, or
- submit a written request to the Corporate Officer.
Personal information submitted in your request is collected under the Act and will be used only for the purpose of responding to your request.
Requests should be clear and brief to reduce processing time. There may be a cost associated with a request depending on how extensive the request is.
We will respond to your request within 30 business days of its delivery. There may be special situations where minimal extensions must be made. We make every effort to provide records as soon as possible.
Contact the Legislative Services Department if you have any questions or are unsure of how to start a formal or informal request.
