In-house training provides employees with training on topics such as Health and Safety, Customer Service, Emotional Health, Stress in the Workplace, and First Aid. In partnership with Emergency Management BC, employees can access Emergency Management training. Through our speaker series, employees get the opportunity to hear great speakers on a variety of topics. In our Manager Training, employees looking to develop management skills can access programs provided by MATI (Municipal Administration Training Institute), Local Government Management Association, UBC Sauder School of Business, Queens University, University of Victoria, and Canadian Professional Management Services.
In 2018, the City partnered with SAIT Corporate Training Solutions to provide credited courses through SAIT that will allow participants to complete the Supervisor Skills Certificate from the City of Fort St John and SAIT. This program will enable applicants to complete further certification through SAIT. The courses attended through the City’s Supervisor Training Program will be credited towards SAIT’s certificate programs. This is a valuable training opportunity for staff in supervisory and management positions or those desiring a future in leadership roles.
