Bulk Water Dispensing Stations

The City offers two Bulk Water Stations for rural and commercial users. To access the stations, users must set up an account with the Finance Department at City Hall.

The Fort St. John Bulk Water Station, located on 116 Street (West Bypass Road) by Ma Murray Elementary School, has six bays for commercial and two for residential users. The Charlie Lake Bulk Water Station accommodates residential users only.

Slippery conditions may occur in cold temperatures. Use precautions when accessing the facility.

Residential Users

When residential users set up an account at City Hall, they will obtain an operator PIN. The fee to set up a residential account is $15. Residential users must pre-pay for their water credits at City Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

The Fort St. John Bulk Water Station on 116 Street (West Bypass Road) has two bays (Bay 7 & 8) for residential users. These bays only have a 2-inch (50-millimetre) outlet with a male cam-lock fitting. Users must have a 2-inch (50-millimetre) female cam-lock fitting and an adequate hose to reach their tank.

There is an alternate location in Charlie Lake at 13074 Lakeshore Drive (the red dot on the map below) for residential users only.

Activating the System

  1. Connect to the water outlet
  2. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position
  3. Key in your Operator Number – Press ENTER
  4. Key in your PIN – Press ENTER
  5. Select pump – Press ENTER (Pump 7 is on the left, Pump 8 on the right)
  6. Enter volume in litres – Press ENTER (5,000 litres for maximum fill)
  7. Turn the switch to the ON position

It is important to note that the system is set up to dispense a maximum of 5000 litres per transaction, which displays as Maximum 5000. As long as you have more than 5000 litres of credit on your account, you will not see the remaining credit until it drops below 5000. If the water credits on the account drop below 5000 litres, it will show on display at the controller. For example, if you only had 2000 litres of credits remaining, it would display Maximum 2000.

Commercial Users

Commercial users may access the Fort St. John Bulk Water Station on 116 Street (West Bypass Road) by setting up an account with the Finance Department at City Hall and obtaining an operator PIN. The fee for setting up a commercial account is $100 and $15 for each operator pin. Commercial users will be invoiced monthly for a minimum flat fee of $100 per month, plus any consumption purchased during the month.

There are four bays for top load trucks with over 4 meters of clearance and two bays with hose outlets at the 1.2-meter meters for other vehicles. All six of these bays have 3-inch (75-millimetre) male cam-lock outlets. Users must have a 3-inch (75-millimetre) female cam-lock fitting and an adequate hose to reach their tank.
