Emergency Support Services Reception Centre

The City of Fort St. John has opened an Emergency Support Services Reception Centre at the North Peace Arena (9805 - 96 Avenue) to support the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality.

Hours:

Monday, May 27 | 9 am - 2 pm
Tuesday, May 28 | 9 am - 2 pm
Wednesday, May 29 | closed

Additional Reception Centres are set up in the following communities (hours vary):

Dawson Creek - Sudeten Hall (1901 Alaska Highway)
Chetwynd - City Hall (5400 Hospital Road)
Prince George - PG Exhibition Grounds (41 Keller St)

Additionally, Sunset Prairie Industry Camp (4591 Braden Road) has space available in single dorm-style rooms with private bedrooms (no pets or alcohol permitted). If this would suit you, you can proceed directly to the camp and staff will register you for ESS on-site (if the gate is closed, please call the number for assistance).

As a reminder, if you don't have a place to stay in Fort St. John, we encourage you to consider going to the other reception centres if you can.

NEW! Remote Support

We’ve now introduced a convenient option for you - remote support. This means you can now register or renew without visiting the Reception Centre in Fort St. John.
Call our remote referral team if you cannot register at the Reception Centre in Fort St. John or would rather not come down for your renewals.

  1. Call the Fort St. John ESS Reception Centre at 250-794-3310 during Reception Centre hours
  2. Our call takers will take down your information
  3. Our trained volunteers will give you a call back to complete your referrals

Reminder: you must have signed up and verified your identity on the BC Services Card app and created your ESS File at https://ess.gov.bc.ca (if you need assistance with this, call the Service BC Emergency Line at 1-800-387-4258)

Note: Some circumstances will require you to come to the Reception Centre

Pre-register for Emergency Support Services

Pre-registering ahead of time will mean you're already set up in the ERA tool and may be eligible for Interac™ e-transfer payments, making it easier to access Emergency Support Services during an emergency.

To pre-register, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit ess.gov.bc.ca

Step 2: Click “Self-Register Now”

Step 3: Follow the BC Services Card login and registration instructions
